Michael's First Vows

This weekend Michael took his first vows -- poverty, chastity, and obediance. It was the end of his two years as a novitiate. Now he's off to study for three years in Chicago. We joined most of the Haley family (with the exception of a few wayward members - Joe, Mel, Matt, Taryn, Jenny, Laura, etc) in Detroit to witness his vows. Shane Abrell, who I consider an honorary Haley, also showed up with some of Michael's friends from high school. It turned out to be a really fun weekend and it was awesome to see Michael take his vows. I'm so impressed with him! You couldn't use flash during the ceremony, so the pictures of the actual vows didn't turn out very well. Fortunately, we've got a good picture of Michael with bunny ears! ha!

The family spent a lot of time hanging out at the hotel. The guys were all impressed by the crazy cars that drive down the street in Detroit. There were cars that you just don't see on a regular basis in Indiana, but in the auto capital they are all over the place.

Lily, John and Jacob got some quality cousin time in as well. Jacob, Kevin and Danielle's son, is a riot - he's only 7 months old and he wants to walk so bad. He cracked us all up. Check out little John...he dwarfs Lily! It is so fun to see how all of their personalities are developing.

Party Party Party

We've had a lot of parties over the last week. We celebrated Peter's birthday; had a dinner party (cookout) for a bunch of our friends; went to a mexican/margharittas dinner party for my office; and went to Jordan's "off to college" party. The only one I have pictures of is the one that was the least fun....Jordan's party. At least there was a pool, so mom, Lily, and I took a quick dip. Dad entertained himself by trying to make Lily flinch when he threw the balloon at her.
