Laura and Justin's party

Laura's friend Gwen threw an engagement party for Laura and Justin at the Red Room on Saturday night. We'd been there before, but never for a private party. It was really nice. They had a little balcony where you could look out over broadripple blvd. Ariana stayed the night with us that night, so we could stay out late (which for us means like 11:00 or 11:30). I have had poison ivy on my neck, chest, and face for a week...hence the very high necked shirt :)

Mom and Abbie have been helping out with child care the last 2 weeks too, since our day care has been closed. Mom watched the girls last week and Abbie is here this week watching them. I dont' know what we'd do if mom had a career other than teaching. Can't wait to see everyone this weekend (except for Joe, Mel and Mike - and we'll see you guys next Thursday!).

Growing and growing

Our friends Richard and Leigh were in town this weekend, but of course I have no pictures of our outings with them. I will try to get Leigh's pics and post some. We went to dinner on Friday night and I spent the whole night outside the restaurant running after Lily. Saturday our friend Neil got married. That wedding was so much fun! The reception was outside at their house. Very low key with a blues band, soul food, and an open bar. We had a blast.

Lily has a new favorite toy...mega blocks. She's quite good at building towers, but that's the only architectural structure she's mastered so far. The blocks came in a wagon that also works like a dump truck - it's not really meant for toddlers.
Addy is growing and growing. She's getting big so fast. Today she almost rolled over. She made it on to her side and then rolled back onto her back. Strong kid.

Lily and Addy have finally adjusted to the new day care. This morning Lily actually ran to the day care lady and wanted to be picked up. That's a major improvement over last weeks meltdowns in the driveway. Well next week and the following week out day care is closed b/c the family goes on vacation for 2 weeks. It'll be interesting to see whether we have to go through the whole adjustment period again or if she's immediately comfortable. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the later.

Fourth of July

We had a pretty low key Fourth of July. We just had a few people over and grilled out during the day and then hung out and watched Fireworks from inside the sun room at night. Next year we'll probably go watch the fireworks down by the docks, but we were just so pooped this year that we didn't feel like leaving the house at all. Plus, the girls were asleep by 8:30 and fireworks didn't start until 9:30. That last picture is Lily very sad that she isn't allowed to chase bubbles down the hill by herself. Hope everyone had a good and relaxing Fourth!

French Lick 2007

As a last hurrah before I head back to work tomorrow, Barclay and I had an adults only getaway to French Lick/West Baden this weekend. Mom and dad kept the girls...turns out we missed the girls way more than they missed us. They had big fun for 3 days! Our trip was a lot of fun, though. We got to see the major renovations at French Lick, and stay at West Baden for the first time. On Friday we went to the French Lick Winery, which moved into a bigger building. We did a wine tasting and had lunch there. Then we checked into the hotel and explored a little bit. West Baden is amazing. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful. The rooms were super nice too. They're definitely still working out some service related kinks, and not everything is open yet, but it was a real treat to stay there nonetheless. Friday night we went to dinner at the new steak house over at French Lick, gambled a bit, and then played pool at a bar for a few hours. French Lick is interesting. They really did some impressive renovations on the inside, but on the outside it's lost a LOT of it's charm. The casino is really ugly looking and placed right on top of the old golf course. A lot of the gardens are gone and the new outdoor pool is little and not nearly as nice as the old pool. So I posted a pick of the new indoor pool, but left out the picture of the outdoor pool. Then on Saturday we went over to Patoka Lake and attempted to rent a small little boat for just the two of us. We should have known that the boats would all be rented out, though, b/c it's Fourth of July weekend. So...the only thing left was a "playtoon"...it's a double decker pontoon with a slide. Since we'd had our hearts set on boating, we went ahead and rented it. We looked like huge dorks cruising the big lake in this boat meant for 10 people :) It was fun, though - and we made sure to go down the slide lots of times! It was a cloudy day, but I got pretty sun burnt anyway, There's no avoiding it with me! Patoka lake is really neat - it's uncrowded and 8800 acres...so very big. There are no houses since it's a DNR property. We'll definitely have to go back there next time we have a family trip to French Lick. We got back today and hung out with mom and dad for a while before they all head to North Carolina to visit Joe, Mel and Mike. Tomorrow it's off to work for me and off to day care for Lily and Addy. At least we start on a short week - we get Wed off for the 4th. Wish we could join everyone in N.C. Have fun !
