My Girls

Addy can support her head well enough now that she can use the bumbo to sit up. Every time we bring out something that Lily used as a baby it's like you can hear her thinking "hey, I remember that thing". She'll watch Addy use it and then the minute Addy's done, Lily is in it...whether the swing, the basket, the bouncy seats, or now the bumbo. Lily is especially interested in Addy lately. There are constant hugs (we have to watch carefully to be sure the hugs don't turn into smothering), kisses, patting, etc. If Addy could talk she'd already be saying "quit touching me, quit touching me" :) Here's the progression from....."Addy can sit in my bumbo" to "I'm waiting for Addy to get out of the bumbo" and on to "Finally, I'm in the bumbo". It doesn't take much to humor us lately!

It has finally been raining here for the last 2 days. Our yard is parched, but it's finally gotten a good soaking. I complained about the rain b/c we were going to festivals yesterday and getting poured on, and I planned a day at the pool today that got rained out....but I really shouldn't complain, the rain was much needed. This is my last week of leave, and then it's back to work next Monday. It's definitely going to be hard to leave the girls all day, but in a way I'm ready to go back to the adult world. So we'll see how it goes!

Rising Sun

Yesterday we went to visit Maria and Liam in Rising Sun. Maria is 5 1/2 months pregnant (due on the same day Lily was due), so we had to check out her pregnant self and let them meet Addy. We only stayed a few hours, but it was good to see them. We walked down to the river and ate lunch while Lily and Liam ran around collecting sticks. They also swam in the wading pools for a little while before we left. Lily actually swam twice - she jumped in with her clothes on right before we left to get lunch.

Lily's new smile and T-Run

Lily has learned to "smile for the camera" and it is hilarious. She scrunches up her face and gives this huge grin. Looks nothing like her natural smile, but it makes us laugh every time. So here are two of the best examples of the "fake smile" - one while hiking with a stick she collected, and another while walking around in my shoe! She also has to check out her picture in the camera as soon as we take it. She's very proud of her new smile!

Mom and Aunt Lindy joined the girls and I in Turkey Run for a few days of hiking and swimming. We had a great time and the girls were on their best behavior most of the time. We went on the best hike - it was looooonnnnggg and really rugged. It involved hiking up streams, along cliff sides, along a swinging bridge, up ladders, the whole nine yards. The girls tagged along in their backpacks and/or front pack for the entire trip without complaining once. Lily held on to mom's ear and sucked her thumb the whole time, and Addy just kept looking up at the sky. The trail was absolutely beautiful. We also went on an easier trail so Lily could walk and splash around in the creak a little bit. She just loves collecting her rocks and sticks.

We also spent a few hours at the pool, which was really fun. They have a great kiddie pool with a fountain. Lily finally wore herself out by running around and around the kiddie pool. So to all of you who have heard me say that nothing wears the child out......now we know that we just have to chase her in circles around the kiddie pool for hours and hours. Addy slept the whole time we were at the pool, but we had her all suited up like a bathing beauty just in case she wanted to swim.

Meeting Sam

We just went and visited my friend Kim, who is also on maternity leave. Her son Sam was born about 2 weeks after Addison. Kim and I work together, so we shared 9 long months of pregnancy stories. Now we can share baby stories.

Addy smiled for the camera!!!

Addy has been smiling for a couple of weeks now, but the smiles get bigger every day and we were just now able to capture the smile on camera. Last night we went to the Fishers Concert series and saw the guy who sings "Dancing Shoes" - Carl Storie. Lily was a riot - she danced around and entertained a whole group of old people.
