Visitin' the Virginians

Over Memorial Day weekend, Barclay went to his 15 year college reunion in Ohio.  The girls and I, along with Abbie, went to visit Matt, Taryn and the kiddos in Virginia.  We mostly drove on Friday and Monday and hung out with them on Sat and Sun. It was well worth trip. We had a great time just being with them, hugging on the kids, swimming, visiting a park, etc. The first couple of pictures are our sorry attempts to get a picture of all 5 kids together. That is honestly the best we could do :) Then Matt begged to have his picture taken as the grill master.  We had a great cookout on Saturday night.  THEN, on Sunday morning Matt and Taryn took us to a park and the kids splashed in the creek. Good times.  The only negative was that everyone (with the exception of a strong stomached few) got some sort of stomach virus or food poisoning Sunday night and Monday morning.  For some odd reason that seems to keep happening when we all get together - too many kids and germs!

Kindy 500

Ladies and Gentleman start your engines....(or at least get your feet on the pedals)...

Each year the Kindergarten class at St. Simon holds a Kindy 500 on the Friday before the the Indy 500. They decorate shirts and their bikes, and race around the parking lot at school.  All of the older kids come out and waive checkered flags and cheer for them.  At the end, the kids get lemonade and a popsicle. It was quite a spectacle of racing. There were crashes right out of the gate, broken bikes, flying training wheels, etc.  Most of all, though, it was just fun.  Miri, Addy and I went and cheered for Lily and she did great!  I told Addy that I'd come watch her next year too and she said "no, I want daddy to come". Typical.

Addy Surgery :(

Well, we had the scare of our lives this past weekend.  Addy fell off the kitchen counter on Thursday night and got a concussion (or the med check thought). By Friday night we were in the ER, rushed to Riley Children's Hospital by ambulance, and she was taken for emergency surgery to remove an epidural hemotoma from her brain.  Talk about scary.  Our 5 year old needed neurosurgery!!!  Ugh.  But Addy  was released from the hospital today (Monday) and is doing remarkably well. She is under strict orders to not re-injure herself, so no rough play for a month or so....something that I'm sure will prove to be challenging!   The first picture is from Sat morning...she was pretty uncomfortable and out of it all day Saturday.  The other two pics are from Sunday. Her headband and catheter were removed, she got a shower, and started perking up. Plus, she had visitors and that made her smile :)  She's even better today. We were so incredibly blessed to have found the hemotoma and to have had the best doctors, best family, and best friends to help us through!

May 2012

We have been enjoying the warm spring in Indy.  Soccer, school, work and fun with friends has kept us busy. Miri is growing so quickly. She's 9 months old now - says momma, dada, and baba quite a bit. She is also finally starting to bug her sisters by pulling hair and messing with their games. But she is also so much fun!  She's happy, funny and so sweet and loving! This weekend she cut 3 more teeth and now has 9 total.  Here are a few recent pics of the girls..the bottom picture is from Lily's mother's day program at school - it was great.
